The Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP) is an initiative by the Government of Canada in collaboration with smaller and remote communities in Ontario, Western Canada, and the three territories. This program aims to attract and retain foreign workers in rural and northern areas, helping to address local labor shortages.
Driven by the community, the RNIP allows participating regions to lead efforts in attracting new immigrants, matching them with available job opportunities, fostering a welcoming environment, and connecting newcomers with established community members and local support services.
