Visa Sub-class 189

The 189 Visa is a points-tested permanent visa designed for skilled workers who are not sponsored by an Australian employer, family member, or nominated by a state or territory. To qualify for the Skilled Independent Visa (Subclass 189), applicants must score a minimum of 65 points on the assessment. Prospective applicants must submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) and await an invitation through SkillSelect. Once invited, applicants have 60 days to complete their application. After the visa is granted, the holder and their family members gain the right to live, work, and study in Australia as permanent residents.
